Vaya Health
Vaya Health is a public managed care organization (MCO) that prioritizes whole-person health. We manage Medicaid, federal, state, and local funding to connect the people we serve to health care services and supports. Our specialty is helping individuals with needs related to mental health, substance use disorders, intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD), and traumatic brain injuries (TBI).

Health Plans
You may qualify for Vaya Total Care Medicaid services if you:
- Have NC Medicaid or are eligible for it.
- Have Medicaid in a county that Vaya serves.
- Need care for a mental illness, substance use disorder, intellectual/developmental disability (I/DD), and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI).
You may qualify for State-funded services if you:
- Don’t have insurance, or your insurance doesn’t cover enough
- Live in a county that Vaya serves.
- Need care for a mental illness, substance use disorder, intellectual/developmental disability (I/DD), and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Direct
You may qualify for NC Medicaid Direct services if you:
- Live in North Carolina
- Have NC Medicaid or are eligible for it
- Are not enrolled in NC Medicaid Managed Care (such as a Tailored Plan or a Standard Plan.)
Vaya Health serves 32 counties in North Carolina.
Alamance, Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Caldwell, Caswell, Chatham, Cherokee, Clay, Franklin, Graham, Granville, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Person, Polk, Rockingham, Rowan, Stokes, Swain, Transylvania, Vance, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey.
